Centurion Project Reaches China
A Report by Gary and Danita Jackson

The Centurion Project is finally up and running again in Beijing! The three teachers from Hart and Amarillo, TX are doing a great job with the almost 35 readers and some of their students are showing a great deal of interest. Some plan to be with us for the Sunday assembly. Our problem is that we need teachers to continue where they will leave off next week. Our next group is not scheduled to arrive until the very end of May. Can you see yourself teaching these eager students? Well, if you can't come, you can pray and we need that, too!

It is hard to put into words what has transpired in the last two weeks. Simply put, God has opened a door for his message in the hearts of the restaurant workers where we have doing the LST Centurion Project Reading. The manager and two of the female workers signed up immediately to read. Now there are five females and two males reading. When we first started reading here last week, there was an altar and image of Guan Yu, a Chinese mythological figure which is very prominent in Chinese businesses. With the encouragement of a Korean believer who came into the restaurant, it has now been removed and as you can see a cross is hanging on the wall (right top). This morning three of us (Danita, Gary, and Sissie) went and had a Bible Study with the manager and all of the workers (11 total). After the study this morning about the One True God, four of the girls expressed their faith in God. The plan right now is to make this a weekly study. Please pray for this amazing opportunity. Also, please pray for their business. They have been so good to us but we are afraid that they will go out of business if they don't start getting more customers soon.

A Note from Karen Neel...

Karen lives and teaches English in Chemnitz, Germany.  She helps host and follow-up LST teams in that area.  Karen has been working there since 1996!  We received this encouraging note from Karen about the great work she is doing...

I just had to send this tidbit of information to you all!!  Apparently, being American and teaching in a small town at an evangelical middle school make you a pretty important person!  I was honored with the request to give an interview to the local newspaper in the area of Burkhardtsdorf where I teach.  The reporter, Nance Dietrich, was very friendly and asked lots of questions during the hour that we talked.  She was interested in how I came to teach at the school and even how I cam to live in Chemnitz.  It was all very exciting and has been the buzz of the school.  Check out the article below.  I was going to translate it, but it was taking too long.  Those of you who can read and understand German, have fun!!
