ACU EXodus in Chiang Mai, Thailand
May 14-29, 2010
Join fellow ACU alumni for a 16-day trip to Thailand. You'll be part of a Let's Start Talking project to share Christ with Thai people.
You'll work with former ACU students Robert Reagan ('84), David and Michelle Allen ('86) and Sean and Pat ('86) Todd ('87) who serve as missionaries there in Chiang Mai. See a video from the Reagans here.
As part of an LST mission team, you will help people improve their English by reading the Gospel of Luke with non-believers in a conversational setting. People come desiring to improve their English language skills, but leave changed by the story of Jesus and by the Christian example and love in your life.
What kind of training does LST provide?
Each LST team member receives personalized DVD training. The entire group will meet the day before departure in DFW for final Gateway Training.
LST's task is to train you well and provide you with all the needed materials so that you can share your faith effectively with others. We work closely with each mission site both before your team arrives and after they leave. We also take care of all of the logistical preparations including housing, transportation, etc.
What happens when we arrive?
The local missionaries have already registered Readers for you before you arrive. The day after you arrive, you may have an information meeting to meet your Readers and then you will start reading with them as soon as possible. You may have 5-7 Readers each day. The LST approach is very friendly, non-confrontational , and very successful in establishing relationships and helping people to find faith in Jesus.
What type of lasting impact does LST make on a mission site?
Robert Reagan, missionary in Chiang Mai, describes LST teams as both "magnets and bridges." Like a magnet, you will draw people from the community who want to practice their language skills with Americans. As you form relationships, you will "build a bridge" connecting your readers with the local mission church. Over 29 years, LST has witnessed God doing amazing things to change the hearts of readers and invigorate mission churches around the globe.
